FAQs
Q: Do you Direct Bill?
Physio Collective is pleased to offer online direct billing for physiotherapy and registered massage therapy to a number of extended health carriers. Please call or email us to confirm if we can bill to your plan.
Availability of this service is dependent on your carrier and/or plan. please note that all treatment fees are the responsibility of the client. If online direct billing is not available, you will be asked to pay for your visit up front and we will provide you with a receipt which you can submit to your extended health carrier for reimbursement.
We encourage all of our clients to check with their extended healthcare providers before coming in to ensure that they are eligible for this service.
Q: What do I bring to the first appointment?
Please bring the following to your first appointment.
Personal Health Number (on the back of your driver's license)
Claim number & Adjustor's name (required for ICBC and WSBC bookings)
Doctors referral (if required)
Q: How do I know which service to choose?
If you had a Physiotherapy, Registered Massage Therapy or Kinesiology session in the past and are familiar with the treatments, ask to book in for a specific service.
If you are new to a certain treatment, see below for a brief description of each service: Physiotherapy: provides manual therapy, exercise therapy, electrotherapy and the use of other modalities (i.e. heat/cold, ultrasound, acupuncture) to help with impairments and promote mobility, function and quality of life.
Registered Massage Therapy: works and acts on the body with pressure from the Registered Massage Therapist; generally promoted to treat pain, stress and functional impairments.
Kinesiology: addresses physiological, biomechanical, and psychological mechanisms of movement; can apply to biomechanics and orthopedics, strength and conditioning and functional rehabilitation.
If you are still unsure of which service to choose, you can book in to see a Physiotherapist for an initial assessment and they can discuss your best treatment options
Q: How long will my appointment be?
Physiotherapy appointments: initial assessment (first appointment or new injury appointment): approximately 45 - 60 minutes
Subsequent session: approximately 45 minutes
Registered Massage & Kinesiology appointments: various times are available including 30, 45 and 60 minute appointments.
Q: What should I wear?
Physiotherapy appointments: wear comfortable clothing. The Physiotherapist will need to assess and treat the area of the body that the client is concerned about. For example, wear/bring shorts if your leg (eg. hip, knee) is injured. For neck, shoulder and back injuries, males may need to remove their shirts and females may need to wear/bring a tank top or wear a gown that we provide.
Registered Massage appointments: no specific requirements. Typically, the client will undress in the massage room and be covered by sheets during the massage sessions.
Kinesiology appointments: wear comfortable, gym clothing. You and the Kinesiologist will be exercising so comfortable/flexible clothing is key.
Q: Do I need a doctor’s note to book an appointment?
A Doctor’s note is not required to book an appointment. If you are covered through extended health benefits, a doctor’s note may be required for coverage. Please contact your insurance company for further details.
